ABCS 2008 Workshop on Bioinformatics, Computational Biology and Systems Biology
The Alliance for Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, and Systems Biology at Texas A&M organized the first annual Workshop on Bioinformatics, Computational Biology and Systems Biology on February 22-23, 2008 at Texas A&M University. The workshop was sponsored by the Vice President for Research at Texas A&M University. On Friday February 22, the workshop was held at the Donald L. Houston Center in Texas A&M's Research Park. On Saturday February 23, the workshop was held in the HR Bright building on Texas A&M's main campus.
The workshop program consisted of keynotes by Ken Dill, Michael Levitt, and Terry Speed, several technical sessions organized by TAMU researchers, and a poster session and reception. The technical sessions and the poster session presented current research at Texas A&M and nearby institutions. The event provided networking opportunities and allowed researchers to showcase their work to each other.
About 130 researchers participated in the workshop. Participation at the workshop was open to all. All participants were encouraged to contribute to the poster session that was held on Friday evening. The deadline for poster submissions was Wednesday February 20, 2008; poster submission was handled through the workshop registration site.
